How we teach
Four things we don't compromise on
Why we never teach large groups
Most swim schools put four to six swimmers with one instructor, so a swimmer spends most of a 30-minute lesson waiting on the wall. Apex was built the other way round: private 1-on-1, or semi-private 1-on-2 with a friend, sibling or a swimmer from the same age group. Every attempt is seen, and every attempt gets corrected.
One instructor, the whole season
You book one weekly time and keep it, same day, same time, same instructor, for the whole fall season. The plan builds from week to week instead of restarting with someone new.
A plan for the swimmer, not the group
Your instructor assesses in lesson one and works from there: water comfort for a nervous 3-year-old, side-breathing for an 8-year-old who is stuck, stroke work for a teen, deep-water confidence for an adult who never learned. Each skill is signed off on your progress page as it is mastered.
Nothing to lose on lesson one
If you don't love your first lesson, tell us within 24 hours and we refund the whole season. Separately, you can cancel within 10 days of booking for a full refund, even before your first lesson. No registration fees. No auto-renewal.
What a lesson looks like
Your 30 minutes, minute by minute
- Minutes 0–3Your instructor meets you on deck, checks in on last week, and gets your swimmer into the shallow end.
- Minutes 3–8Warm-up on the skill from last lesson, floats, kicks or breathing, so nothing is forgotten between weeks.
- Minutes 8–25The new skill for this lesson, one swimmer at a time, with the instructor in the water and within arm’s reach.
- Minutes 25–30Toddlers, kids and teens: a short free swim or game. Adults: a last run at the skill. Then a 30-second recap on deck: what was mastered, what is next.
Your instructor, in the water, with your swimmer or pair for all 30 minutes. Parents watch from the deck seating.

Every lesson is taught by one of the Apex instructors below, the same one for your swimmer all season. One instructor stays with your swimmer for the whole season, so the plan builds week to week instead of restarting with someone new.

Hi, I'm Maleeka! I swam competitively from ages 6 to 11, which helped me build a strong foundation and love for the sport. Since I was 13, I've been working toward my swimming and lifesaving certifications, and I currently hold my CPR and First Aid, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and National Lifeguard certifications. I'm excited to share my experience, help swimmers build confidence in the water, and create a fun and supportive learning environment for everyone!
Hi, I'm Eva! Teaching swimming is one of my passions, especially that moment when a nervous swimmer realizes they can do it. I like to break every skill into small, achievable wins, and I work with all ages, from toddlers taking their first dip to adults learning later in life. Can't wait to get in the water with you!
Hi, I'm Kush, a 26-year-old Indo-Canadian who grew up in Mississauga. Great community pools and programs got me swimming at a very young age, all the way back to the Swim for Life days. Outside the pool I keep an active, balanced lifestyle: strength training, good nutrition, time outdoors, and racket sports like tennis, badminton and pickleball when the weather is nice. I bring leadership, clear communication and patient teaching to every lesson.
