Adult lessons FAQ

Do you teach adults who have never swum?

Yes, many of our adult students are beginners, and some are nervous in the water. Lessons are private (just you and the instructor) or semi-private (you and one other adult). You start in the shallow end on the steps and nothing happens before you are ready.

How many lessons does an adult beginner need?

It depends on the person, so we do not promise a number. You start on the steps in the shallow end and move at your own pace with one instructor, no group and no audience. Each skill is signed off on your progress page as you master it, so you can see how far you have come after every lesson.

When are adult lessons?

Fall Season adult times are Sunday afternoons (12:00 – 3:00 PM) and Monday to Thursday evenings (5:00 – 8:00 PM) at 5100 Satellite Drive, Mississauga. You book one weekly time and keep it for the season.

Can I learn with my partner or a friend?

Yes. Two adults in one semi-private time each pay $39.99 + HST per lesson, and your first weekly time is full price. Every weekly time you add after that, a 2nd lesson per week for the same swimmer, or a sibling, partner or friend joining with their own time, gets its first lesson free. That is $45.19 off per extra time for semi-private, or $73.44 for private, HST included. Two swimmers at 2 lessons per week saves three lessons; three swimmers at 3 lessons per week saves eight ($361.51). Add-on times need 4 or more lessons.

Is anyone else in the pool?

Other Apex lessons may be running in the pool at the same time, each with its own instructor. Your instructor is only teaching your swimmer or pair, and there is no class of strangers.

What if I hate my first lesson?

If you don't love your first lesson, tell us within 24 hours and we refund the whole season.
